Hi all
i am presently offshore on a seismic ship and have been given some
digital movies that have a suffix of .divx and a couple of .avi and
.mpg.
These came from PC machines that are used by the crew to watch on
large screen TV's during time off using a media player of some kind
(in lieu of dvds). They look really good on the TV too.
I have a macbook pro 15" with 10.5.2 and quicktime on (not pro). Are
there other software programs that I can download to use to watch on
my machine that anyone knows of? I imagine quicktime pro would open
the mpg (it is xVid Mpeg 4 codec) but I dont have it here.
Could I run the .divx movies in Windows on bootcamp perhaps?
Any help is much appreciated
kind regards to all
chris
Hi Chris
You want to grab VLC and Perian. While you're at it, get FLip4Mac as
well.
If the above don't play Divx, which I think they do (wihtout going
to check)
then you can also get Divx player as well.
DIVX player is here :

Just search Versiontracker for
divx. These are different types of players that come in very handy.
(And if you don't have RealPlayer, the latest Flash and Shockwave
grab those
at the same time as well.)
You can get all of them from Versiontracker.

That should get it all going for you.
Kind Regards
