Peter, Just make sure you change your APN (Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network -> APN) to 3services. This will allow you to view the three homepage (http://www.three.net.au) when on a 3G network, retrieve email, etc.
Not sure if this is the advice your after. But if you do move to three or already with three, this is the main configuration setting you'll need.
