I've noticed that on my mac as well for the last year or more. When I wake it, it shows what was the screensaver before it went to sleep, then the screen goes off again for a few second before everything's normal. I figure it's a bit like my brain in the morning - takes a bit to get going :-) Once it's going there's no problem (the mac that is).
