Michael,
The method is probably simpler than than might be expected.
As long as the PDF is not locked/needing a password, just select
the required text and drag it to the field in FM Pro 10 and drop.
Do NOT cut and paste!
Using the drag and drop method, the resultant font is always in the
style you set up in FM no matter what the PDF font was.
I have not tried transferring graphics or pictures but I have reason
to suppose they would not behave the same way.
If the PDFs are locked, you can use PDFPro key - another simple to use
process. There are others to be found if you Google "unlock PDF" or
sim.
