Peter, with Bento 3 you can share libraries. These shared libraries are only available across the network if the 'owner' is logon and has Bento active.

I always follow what you have said when a staff member leaves.

Yes I can Export the shared libraries.

An option is to create a virtual staff member and store the shared libraries in that logon and logon to this at the beginning of the day.

However if the staff member who created the library leaves and you delete his/her logon you leave the libraries. What this staff member can do is Export the libraries in Numbers and some one else can then import them.

If that person leaves the same issues.

Can you therefore save shared Bento libraries on a network and they remain on the network irrespective of who comes or goes?

What options did you choose when you deleted their account? If you chose to delete the account but keep the contents, you should those contents in a Disk Image in the Users folder on that computer. If you chose the other option, to delete the account plus its contents, it's gone.

Please remember that as a business owner, the files on any of your computers are your property and your responsibility. Deleting accounts without assuring their contents are retained in some form is very dangerous. Was your staff member backing up the Bento database to somewhere other than that computer, such as file server? If so, you can restore from that backup onto another copy of Bento.

Please also remember that solutions such as Bento, while inexpensive, are designed for personal use. While Bento does now allow networking, it is not perhaps the best solution for critical business data, for reasons you have discovered.
