Hello folks,

I first encountered this problem about a month ago and was offered some very
sensible advice by other WAMUGERS. All of which I have exercised.

Frequently (about 30% of the time) when I start my iMac 2.15, once the desktop
has appeared, the screen seems to freeze. The dock will not appear and I cannot
get the Apple pull down menu to appear. So I have to power off using the power
button and then boot up again. It nearly always starts without a problem on the
second try.

I am using latest Mac OSX.

I have deleted all applications in System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items
(except for iTunes Helper).
I have also uninstalled Virus Barrier X6.
But the problem still persists !!

What will happen with iTunes if I delete iTunes Helper ?
I have never used "repair disk permissions". Could that be of any significance ?
If I do "repair disk permissions" is there anything I need to know about doing
this ?

Can anyone suggest any other remedies that I can try ?
This is becoming quite frustrating.

Regards,
Stephen Chape
