Time for a new drive :)

I have a back up drive that houses my time machine that un-mounts
when I try to access file within. It is not every time but it does
happen frequently. Sometimes it quits the finder as well. I have
rebuilt fixed prefs started up logged out. Every time I leave the
mac to sleep and then awaken it the backup disappears and I get the
removal message box come up.

any thoughts?
