If so, take advantage of that now, otherwise just get a new drive. This unit is on its way out, and it's only a matter of time before you find it won't mount at all. It's most likely a problem with the hard drive's circuit board, but in any case a dead drive is a dead drive, and if it's only dying it's as good as dead. If you can open the case you should be able simply to replace the drive itself.
