Hi Kevin, Isn't it strange how the problems with Apple products suddenly become features when the other companies finally catch up a year or two later. My wretched MacBook Pro has no serial ports, no 3.5" disk drive, and no light-weight plastic body parts. I would guess that miniature SIMS will become the standard. Also Apple's battery technology allows fitting a larger battery into a smaller case and greatly increases the number of times is can be charged. Sealing the unit was probably a design decision to allow a smaller, sleeker profile while increasing water and dust resistance.
Providing you don't break the back glass face (likely more often a teenager's problem), you iPhone 4 is less likely to need repairs than other phones. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/11/10/study_says_apples_iphone_4_most_reliable_most_fragile_smartphone.html Enjoy!
