A friend in Sydney has been a long time PC user and programmer and has recently bought a MacBook. He is lamenting the absence of a PC search called 'Wildcards'. The techo term for Wildcards is 'regular expressions' (regex).

He has loads of data on external drives and if he searches with a search word in spotlight it won't find what he is after, but on his PC 'Wildcards' finds all references to the search word.

He asked me about it but I haven't a clue. Is there something that enhances a spotlight search on Mac?

thanks,

Kevin
