Morning, OS X is a NIX OS, so many tools available via Terminal.
Locate is such a tool, just type locate with any part of file or whatever you are looking for. Locate will find many variables, highlight then right click use Services, then open to run. Initialising is simple just run following line within terminal, or wait a week after initial install. sudo /usr/libexec/locate.updatedb Also again if machine is switched of daily as OS X updates database at 4.30am Saturdays?
