I can not find any link to prove it now but I know I did see some time ago from a respected web site that the Apple rechargeable batteries are re-badged Sanyo Eneloops. I would assume the charger may also be a re-badged Sanyo. I bought Eneloops for my Sony digital camera and they last and last. In any case the Eneloops work fine with Apple stuff - mouse, etc. May be difficult to find where you are because of course regular battery retailers incl Coles, etc do not want to sell any such things which do not wear out quickly.
