Chris,

I have been using VueScan for about 8 years now. It has great depth of features
and drives just about any device that can scan, regardless of age. For example,
I am currently using it to digitise a book printed in 1870, using the feature
where the output is a pdf file with the images of pages, but with an OCR text
overlay. Produced in one step, all by VueScan. My current scanner is a 6 year
old CanoScan, and VueScan drives it without missing a beat.

Have had many tens of updates over the 8 years, all free because I bought the
Pro version.
