Hi Ken Hmm an interesting one. Disable Bluetooth ( turn it right off). You'll lose being able to use the Trackpad, but then could rule out the Bluetooth being an issue. Could try a reinstall of the operating system, but they may be a "last resort" type thing. Does sound like somethings interfering with it, or something is corrupt.
Try turning off Expose and Hot Corners and all those sort of things.
