Hi Ray and Ronni Thanks for your suggestions. Ronnie I dont think it is solver but more like that which Ray has offered.
However I already to have that box checked in the AutoComplete section. I Ray reloaded Excel and in the file which I have been using, typing in names for which I know there are several above in the column: there is no auto complete happening. I remember, it provides a list to choose from. This seems really weird as it was working perfectly a few weeks ago. One thing Im concerned is that it changed when I did the Office 2011 update about a month ago. I have just checked again and there is another update to 14.2.2. Not sure if I should do this one now, but it may address this problem? Anyone know about it? I will also do a search for any discussion about this in Excel Many thanks for your help Kind regards Chris On 29/05/2012, at 1:55 PM, Ray Forma wrote: > Chris, > > Excel > Preferences…; then AutoComplete and tick Enable AutoComplete for cell > values. > > On 29/05/2012, at 12:11 PM, Chris Burton wrote: > >> Hi everyone >> >> I have just noticed that while using Excel (2011 V 14.1.4), it no longer >> pre-empts (not sure what the appropriate word is here) my cell entry with >> those of previous cells above.
