Hi Ray Thanks so much for your persistence on this. I just updated to 14.2.2 and I am on a Mac Book Pro with 10.6.8. I then restarted the machine and repaired permissions.
Still No luck. I also typed in known names that were just above the cell and it didnt recognise the letters. I did some searching and it seems that others have had similar problems for quite a while with no solution I could find. Not sure what to do now Ray Many thanks Chris On 29/05/2012, at 4:32 PM, Ray Forma wrote: > Chris, > > I stupidly forgot to do what I always tell others to do; include version > numbers etc. > > I use Excel 14.2.2 under MacOS 10.6.8 > > That version of Excel, with the appropriate preference set, happily offers to > AutoComplete data I'm entering in a cell as long as there is another cell > somewhere in the sheet that has the same starting character sequence. > > I therefore suggest you update to the current version 14.2.2 and then keep > your fingers crossed. > > On 29/05/2012, at 2:26 PM, Chris Burton wrote: > >> Hi Ray and Ronni >> >> Thanks for your suggestions.
