Hi Brett, You have not followed my Tutorial correctly. In my Tutorial - Step 2: Restart the source (original) Mac while pressing and holding the "T" key.
Basically you do this: A. Plug the Firewire cable into the old iMac. Restart the old iMac with the "T" key held down. You'll see a firewire symbol bounce around the screen. B. Plug the other end of the Firewire cable into the new iMac. C. Turn on the new iMac. In My Tutorial: When you get to Step 6: "From a Time Machine backup or other disk". In Step 7: You select the old Mac's Hard Drive (Macintosh HD) Its all explained and shown in the Tutorial, follow the instructions. > One other point, Ronni, in your tutorial a later screenshot show what the > target folders are and I noticed the Applications folder does not have a pull > down icon. Does this mean you can transfer all only or can you select a few? You can't choose what applications to transfer, you have to transfer all applications. When you get them all transferred to your new Mac you can clean up then, by correctly deleting any applications you no longer require.
