| All OK thus far. I havent looked at Software update - I’ll stick to what works just now! Bill Ok Bill,
That is good. Pages 4.3 (iWork '09) is much improved on previous versions. I have been uploading a disk image of the "iWork '09 Install DVD.dmg" to my Dropbox for you to download... With my sooo very slow ADSL down here it is taking all day at upload speeds of 23-41KB/s :(
Just watch out if Mavericks Software Update tells you that you need to install Pages 5. If you do install Pages 5... Don't double click to open any Pages documents that have been created in a previous version as they will then open in Pages 5. And in Pages 5 it does alter them and they can't be opened in Pages '09 again. You are best to drag & drop the Pages document onto the Pages 4.3 App's icon so it opens in Pages 4.3.
When I can find a bit of time I will post more info about working having the two versions of The iWork Apps installed.

Thansk Ronni.
Problem solved. I have gotten Pages 09 from a friend, upgraded OS to Mavericks and I am back in business.
Bill Hi Bill,
I have iWork'09 Retail DVD boxed set. I'll check in my study tomorrow and get back to you.

Thanks Ronni,
I thought the quick solution would be to buy Pages 09. ( I tried a colleague but it turns out she's using an iPad)
I am using Mac 10.7.5 and and the only version from the Mac store requires 10.9 or better. So is there somewhere I can get hold of Pages 09?

iWork is not backwards compatible... You can open a Pages'08 document in Pages '09 but not the other way around. (You can go forward but not backwards)
If you can get someone to open the document in Pages'09 (or whatever version it was created in) they could then... 1. choose 'Save As' 2. Type a new name for the document in the 'Save As' field 3. Choose where you want to save the document 4. Select "Save a copy as", and choose iWork'08 or Word Document from the pop-up menu 5. Click save

Folks,
Is there any way of opening a document made in a late (but unknown version) of Pages in Pages 3.0.3? I have the document also as a PDF.
Bill
