Hi Bill, why not bypass the issue by not using software at all. Whether you are using a card reader or connecting the camera by USB the card will show up on your desktop as a drive. Just make a new folder on your desktop and copy the contents of the camera card into it by dragging and dropping. You will then have the full sized images on your computer.
Make sure you always keep those originals somewhere in your system. Don't delete them just because you have imported them into a program. Then you can import them into whatever software you are using, checking the settings option to make sure the software is not downgrading the images during the import process.
