Hi Peter, I have not yet tried starting in Verbose Mode because I wanted to try something else.
I switched off Intego VirusBarrier and Intego WebBarrier 3 days ago. My Mac has started up in just over a minute each morning. I feel a little uncertain about losing that protection these days (sorry Ronni). But in a few days I will switch them back on one at a time to see what happens. > On 30 Nov. 2016, at 7:52 am, Peter Hinchliffe <[email protected]> > wrote: > > >> On 29 Nov. 2016, at 10:45 pm, Stephen Chape <[email protected] >> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >> >> Hi folks, >> >> My iMac is a December 2012 model 21.5 inch with i7 processor. >> I am using the latest macOS Sierra. >> >> During the past 2 weeks it has frozen about 80 percent through the startup >> bar. >> I have had to hold the power button till it shuts down. >> Then restart …. each time with success. >> >> Any ideas why this may be happening and how to fix it please ? >> >> Regards, >> Stephen Chape >> >> > > Try starting in Verbose Mode (hold down Command & “V” when starting up).
