Hi Rob
There are non-genuine replacement batteries available for 2008 machines.
I ordered one thru Midland Mac 4 U shop. They work but due to high demands of
new software they only give about 2 hours of run time.
Other than that my 17" starts up and runs quite quickly.
Daniel did upgrade the RAM to 6 GB a while ago, that could be worth
investigating.
