Thanks Tim, I would love to have gone down the same track you did but a 27β iMac is way beyond my means.
My Time Machine backup and External Drive is on a Voyager Q (with thanks to Daniel Kerr who knows these units well) which does not have USB port, only Firewire 400 and 800 hence the wait for the adapter.
