Thanks Peter, I followed your procedure, however the internal master drive now named OSX Base System is locked. There’s no obvious way to unlock and instal MacOS this way. By restarting using the backup external drive I can see OSX Base System drive as completely empty and First Aid read AOK. Can I unlock it somehow using Disc Utility? In a folder marked System sub folder CDIS there are possible ways to unlock and instal OSX, but I’m wary of trying without some more advice. Cheers Marcus
