Hi Sev,
As others have said, even the first iPad Mini 1 should be updated to IOS 9.3.5. Others have also had problems being stuck at IOS 8.x – see: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8435092 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7775609 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7661433 (stuck at an earlier version of IOS 9.x) the first poster was referred to this article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263 The second poster was referred to this article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204 The third post includes reference to this article: http://osxdaily.com/2015/09/23/fix-wrong-ios-software-update-version-showing/ I don’t know if you have already tried any of this or if it will work for you (or if it worked for the original posters) – but it could be worth a try. To confirm this check the Model number on the back. It will be either A1489, A1490 or A1491 All these models are capable of updating to iOS 12.x If the model number is either A1454 or A1455 it is the first mini and it can go to iOS 9.3.5 Either way an iOS update should be your first focus. robin On 26 Jan 2019, at 8:18 am, Severin Crisp <[email protected]> wrote: Software update says 8.5 is it. Try: Reset Network Settings Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will not erase any apps or media but will erase Wi-Fi passwords. Is this an age phenomenon and is there a workaround?
