Hi Peter, Though it can be possible to upgrade your current iMac, it can be a bit “price restrictive” on that model. For example, I have a 2014 iMac with a 2TB SSD installed already that I’m selling second hand cheaper than what you’d probably pay to upgrade it. Also, have a second hand 2017 iMac 27” as well. I can email you pricing on both direct to you if you were interested.
As Peter mention, Affinity software which has been around for quite a while, but just recently bought out by Canva and then made free November at some point can be an option. For website work, have a look at Sitely. I use it and love it. It’s a replacement for Apple’s iWeb - and works very well. Though it can’t directly import Dreamweaver websites, it can import a) from pages locally or b) pages online or c) copy and paste content. You can buy it outright software, so dont need to go to their subscription based version. And it works very well. Very “drag and drop” and very easy to use like Apple’s iWeb used to be. I use it for all my sites. You can view it here - https://sitely.app/ The guy that writes it is super helpful as well, as have queried some things with him directly at night (UK based time zone he’s in I think). Very helpful. So between Affinity and perhaps Sitely, that would get you onto new versions of macOS so a bit more up to date. Drop me an email off list if you want more info on the ones I have second hand, or I can price up to upgrade currently one as well. One issue though, with older Adobe software is that it will sometimes now not re-install as Adobe have killed off a lot of their older “activation servers” so even though you have a licence code, if it tries to verify it with Adobe it will fail and not work. As their “activation serveR” is no longer there at the other end. Had that happen to a few people trying to re-activate software they had (“owned”) as Adobe try get everyone into newer software (read, make more money off subscriptions). So just something to be aware of that could be an issue.
