Strange... I now tried a Msys build on XP running inside qemu, and there the timedemo works (I get a whopping 4 FPS with shadows), and shift-backspace writes "Cheats enabled". Don't know why my Linux compile doesn't do that... perhaps a compiler problem, Msys uses gcc 3.4.2, while I have 4.1.2 on Linux. Or the build system, autostuff on Linux and Makefile.raw on Windows.
