This was revision 4789 (compared with almost 6500 we are now). I don't think 7 months between branching different releases is too short. Checking the SVN log shows enough changes. I don't know how many of those were backported of course. I don't feel like updating the changelog now, but I'll check it out somewhere this week.

Especially if you don't know if you will have time to finish it soon, I don't think we should wait for it. I agree with Per that 2.2 would be a nice target for long term support. I only hope that it doesn't become as much of a pain as 2.0.
