Agreed.

I disagree.
Do small steps instead, we saw already that big changes are not performing
well.

The terrain stuff seems to be looking quite ok already, so that would be a
candidate for 2.3. I dont know how far betawidget is, but that might make it
into 2.3 as well. We don't need to convert all scripts to Lua just now, we can
still use WZScript till that is ready.
As I will postpone the projectile improvements to 2.3 to not delay 2.2, that
might make it in time as well.
I somehow doubt that we (or Gerard) will be able to quickly and bugfree
convert *all* the scripts to Lua soon, so that should go into 2.4. I saw no
work on the savegames at all lately, so I would generally delay that as well,
except anything changes on that front soon. WZM was the new module format,
iirc. I have not seen any specs on that, let alone code. "Big terrain changes"
will likely not happen very quickly either. Or does someone have a working map
editor at hand? What does WZM have to do with the terrain?

Thus my proposal for a roadmap:

2.2 from current trunk (someone update the damned changelog please, if
everyone adds the features he did during the last year, that would be a huge
bonus already)
 - spring / summer 2009

2.3 incl terrain, projectiles, betawidget ?
 - fall 2009?

2.4 full use of Lua, savegames, wzm, wzstudio ? (we might want to cut that
down... Esp wzm and wzstudio have seen neither code nor attention since a long
time, so maybe that is more a candidate for 2.5)
 - spring 2010
