#839: Can't play later levels in Campaign

2.2.1 on older MacBook and new MacBook Pro, both running 10.5.
I get up to around level 26 or 27 in the campaign, and the app. always
crashes on loading the levels.
On one of my macs this occurs on the level after the evacuation level.
On the other machine it happens a level or two later.
