That would work for me, though, I don't think we should name it 2.4.
We need to reserve the other 2.4-2.9 for *possible* enhancements to 2.3.
Newnet, Qt, lua come to mind...

I would rather see a branch called 3.0, so we can make a clear
distinction about the higher system requirements that trunk uses over
the current 2.x series.
