For what it is worth, we should NOT revert back to the old PIE format,
PIE 3, which does  use floats, is very much needed.

If other parts of the game have a issue with this, then we should read
only the integer part of the value and stuff that into a new variable
for whatever purpose that floats break.

The easy way to do this is read it as a %f first, (store that) then
read the same value again as %d.%d and only store the first part.
