I'm trying to insert some special characters from the UTF8 character
set into a text field.

With some of the characters ( particularly £, EURO, ¬) all I'm seeing is
a string of à à à à à à .

$char_set_1=("!£ EURO$%^&*()_-+=[ ]{ }~#'@;:/?.>,<|\¬`")
@browser.text_field(:name, "title").append(char_set_1)

If I enter these characters into the text field manually they appear
correctly - so I'm assuming the problem is with watir?

I've tried using
require 'win32ole'
WIN32OLE.codepage = WIN32OLE::CP_UTF8

and have checked that my text editor is encoding the characters in
UTF-8 - but still no luck.

If i input each character invidually with a brief pause inbetween then
it seems to work i.e.
@browser.text_field(:name, "title").append("$")
sleep(1)
@browser.text_field(:name, "title").append("%")
sleep(1)
@browser.text_field(:name, "title").append("£")

Is there anyway around this?

I'm using FireWatir.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
J
