For the past few months I've been running a set of Ruby/Watir scripts
against Firefox with no problems.
I get back from a 2-week vacation yesterday and suddenly, when I run
my scripts I'll get the following error whenever the script calls for
closing the browser window...
C:/Ruby191/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/firewatir-1.6.6/lib/firewatir/
jssh_socket.rb:12:in `js_eval': Components is not
definedReferenceError: Components is not definedReferenceError:
Components is not definedReferenceError: Components is not
definedReferenceError: Components is not definedReferenceError:
Components is not definedReferenceError: Components is not defined
(JsshSocket::JSReferenceError)
from C:/Ruby191/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/firewatir-1.6.6/lib/
firewatir/firefox.rb:219:in `close'
I can work around this with the following code...
begin
$ff.close
rescue JsshSocket::JSReferenceError
# do nothing
end
But the problem is only happening on one of my test machines, and
updating all places in all scripts that call for closing the browser
window seems like a band-aid solution.
I thought that maybe the problem was the latest update of Java, but I
went to an earlier build and that didn't solve it. Could it be Firefox
version 3.6.13? My other machine, which does not have this problem,
is using 3.6.12 and I'm now scared to update it.
Any help/advice will be much appreciated.
