Well, I think you are doing something different now. Using when_present? on
that link element (browser.link(:id, "showlink").when_present.click) would
have returned an error like:

C:/Ruby187/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/commonwatir-2.0.1/lib/watir/wait.rb:23:in
`until': timed out after 60 seconds (Watir::Wait::TimeoutError)
    from
C:/Ruby187/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/commonwatir-2.0.1/lib/watir/element_extensions.rb:19:in
`method_missing'

It's hard to figure out what you are trying to do with the hash you posted.
It would be much easier to figure out what you are doing if you could post a
publicly available URL.
