David Hearnden commented on WAVE-283:
-------------------------------------
I think the title needs some clarification. "Participant avatars not rendered
in wave search panel" should be softened to something like "Broken waves do not
have placeholder avatars in the search panel", or "search panel does not handle
malformed digests gracefully", since it appears that this only happens on waves
that are already broken, not on waves that are healthy.
Note that other aspects of the wave's metadata are also missing from the digest
(timestamp, blip count, etc), so the bug should probably encompass all of them,
not just the avatars. An alternative solution would be to have the search API
discard broken digests, or the wave server discard broken waves, so we don't
have to worry about it on the client.

> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Web Client
> Environment: Chromium 13.0.774.0 (Developer Build 86385 Linux) Built
> on Ubuntu 10.04, running on LinuxMint 10
> WIAB instance: waveinabox.net
> Reporter: STenyaK
> Priority: Minor
>
> This wave [1] of waveinabox.net does not show the 3 typical avatars when
> listed in the search panel. There is not even space for the avatar images to
> be displayed: the wave title, small text preview, date and unread count uses
> up all the width of the search panel.
> Descriptive screenshot here: [2].
> The wave seems to be federated from other wiab instance and has "no
> conversations" if the wave panel message is correct.
> Not sure if any of this is normal, but I'm reporting just in case.
