While WIAB continues to get better and better, many of my friends have commented on the lack of focus on UI, so I have been thinking about how to improve it. While I really think the best solution would be to completely redo the UI (perhaps based on the Gwave UI redesign mockups<https://plus.google.com/photos/117473852478348637128/albums/5687797721073659953>), I have put together a Chrome extension that tweaks the existing UI to (IMHO) improve it. This extension<https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B15evpzcAcI3ODhiN2IyN2UtMzA2ZC00NTBmLTg4OWYtNTI4MzBkNjM4MzAy>modifies the appearance of blips to make the blip “chrome” take up less space and make the blip toolbar less text-heavy.
If enough people approve, I can look into how to incorporate the changes into the WIAB code in a non-messy way (if you look at the extension code, you will see a lot of it is quite messy). I created a wave about this on waveinabox.net<http://waveinabox.net/#waveinabox.net/w+0ES9BCYQo1A> this morning, and the response to the toolbar icons has been pretty much positive (the reduced blip padding still needs some tweaking; perhaps it would be appropriate to use CSS media queries for different amounts of padding?). Any comments/suggestions? —Zachary “Gamer_Z.” Yaro
