theoretically, connecting with the wavesandbox.com wave server is the
same as connecting with any other FedOne wave server. You simply open a
new wave and add a participant from wavesandbox.com to that wave.
(Provided you've setup all of the requirements of Federation).

I should note that to connect to wavesandbox.com you will need to use a
Certificate from a known good provider such as CAcert or startssl.
