I think I was able to federate with wavesandbox.com. I used James Purser's waveandbox address for the test since I don't have sandbox account yet. (I only filled out the form yesterday, so it'll be a while). I also have a Google Apps enabled domain, so I followed Joe's advice and disabled the Chat service (wasn't using it anyway).
My wave address is tad AT glines DOT com.
