I'm curious who is actually building wave clients, and how they are being
built.

If the wave client is, say, a flash or gwt client, then the client server
protocol is best chosen by what is native for that environment. For gwt,
gwt-rpc and json are a good fit, while for flash rtmp is an obvious
candidate.

The only place i see XMPP as a client/server language is for desktop and
embedded (c++/objective c) wave clients, and I'm wondering if anyone is
actually building one.
