You can find a significant chunk of source code from and related to Google
Wave at: http://code.google.com/p/wave-protocol/ [along with some docs and
other materials at http://www.waveprotocol.org/]

Note that the source code is made available under the Apache 2.0 license, to
make it easy for you to take advantage of.

While it's true that Novell Pulse is running separately from Google Wave,
they are very much working on making it possible to federate [when the users
desire] as shown in:
http://googlewavedev.blogspot.com/2010/03/novell-pulse-and-google-wave.html
