Sharon, You know it's kinda funny you should mention that about Barney and Thelma Lou's relationship because I had something frighteningly similar happen to a young lady and me over thirty years ago. We had, for some long ago forgotten reason, drifted apart and went our separate ways after we'd been similarly in love as Barney and Thelma Lou had been. Later, there was the painful class reunion of old, familiar songs and forgotten glances. Now we've found each other again and drifted back together. We haven't re-enacted the end of "Return to Mayberry" yet, but we're talking about it.... Although I understand how you would find the class reunion episode sad, I watch it with the rather wry grin of familiarity.
