>>TTown, you didn't cause any problems. You're new to the digest.
You'll find that a lot of subjects get discussed at great length until
we realize we're wandering away from Mayberry. A while back there was
the great sleep pants discussion.... Different subjects resurrect from
time to time. The founding members are very patient with those of us
who want to know more about something that had been discussed years ago
before we joined. Someone can post some helpful links if you are
looking for something specific.<<<

Thank You, Carol "Kind behind the eyes". You are right on girl.
Ttown should not feel bad. That TVLand gentle bashing had been going on
for weeks, and I think the consensus was we'd heard just about enough
about that tomato. And you came up with some good memories. I have to
admit I was a party in the great sleep pants debacle. The main thing,
is just to stay positive, and not get too far off track. (Act like
somebody)

>>>As far as Rose's husband showing up later as Charlie Foley, the
butcher - why, that just means you are going to be a great trained
noticer. If any of you new members need a phrase or reference
explained, just ask. Trained noticer gets tossed around a lot. I know
it's a Barney quote, but someone will have to tell me the episode and
context. Was it in My Fair Ernest T. Bass?<<<<

"Trained Noticer" comes from the Season One Episode that Barney likes
Miss Rosemary. He says something about her wearing a different
Shirt-waist every Sunday, and the subject of "Trained Noticer" comes
up.

>>When you use these lines, you can spot other Andy fans right away
because they get it. Others are like the judges at the musicale when
Barney selected "something from the light classics" for his tryout -
it's over their heads (see what I mean). <<<<

Ben, you reminded me of something that caused me to laugh out loud this
week. American Idol was on. This guy sang a song "Let my people go" I
believe. He was terrible, but the judges rudely laughed almost to his
face. He said afterward something like "I guess next time I'll have to
sing something more contemporary". It was so Barney, I lost it. He
might as well have said he needed to sing something from the light
classics. Did you notice that on the show, they all sing A-capella?
-------------------------------------
The rotary Dial phone was seen in Walkers Drug store, I believe. There
was a debate on this a while back, and I think we agreed that it was
manufactured to have dial on it (due to mass production) but the
payphone body-phone had no actual dial.
---------------------------------------------
Paul "the encyclopedia" Mulik has probably mentioned this, but an
episode of Matlock I just saw, Andy (er Ben) was leading a choir and
they sang the same song that Aunt Bee and the ladies choir sang when
they got the choir robes. "The Lord be gracious unto you"

Good Luck Ttown You now have your Trained Noticer Learners Permit.
Watch for the name and the actor Allen Melvin.

The Untrained Voice
Hey where's Harriet the Chicken Thief been lately? There are lots of
other Mayberry names out there, but real names, and hometowns are good
as well.

C'mon tell be about some great debaters....
