Ordered the Don Knotts book a few days ago and can't wait to receive it. He is
the man. When I have a bad day Don knows how to bring me back to the smile
world. Thanks Don for the memories! I own all your movies and had the
opportunity to see you here in Melbourne Florida. Also, thanks Allan for this
little world of Mayberry.

<< I mean, I must have missed something in those two episodes that have put
them over the top. >>

Yes, you are! Barney asking Andy if he's having a spell, Andy telling Barney
that Otis "kicked him out of the cell and he got mad", Otis calling the goat
"Uncle Nat", Otis hiding under the hay, Barney coming in and throwing the
pillows up in the air and being backed against the wall by the dangerous
dynamited goat, Barney snatching the mayor's cigar out of his mouth and
extinguishing in with the fire extinguisher. Anyway, I haven't voted, but
this is one of my favorites because of these classic rewind scenes and more.

Re: MissPoovey's Game

I loved MissPoovey's game! I think have all the answers:
1. Pyle's smiles
2.Crump's stumps
3.Fife's knife
4.Ellie's jellies
5.Sprague's Plagues
6.Bee's trees
(don't know if I spelled Howard's last name correctly) Rhyme Time is my
favorite category on "Jeopardy".

Keep 'em coming, MissPoovey!

For those of you that haven't checked out MissPoovey's home page, you
should!

P.S. Wish that you all could see our family dog. His name is Barney
and he has a "salt and pepper coat". He is just a mutt, but we love him
dearly.

Bee's Trees.

That was kinda fun.

I really liked the Rhyme Time Game. The answers I came up with were:
Pyle's Smiles, Crump's Stumps, Fife's Knife(s), Ellie's Jellies, Sprague's
Plagues, and Bee's Trees.
Here are a few I made up:
1)Campbell's Japanese Blossoms
2) Merriwether's Powders
3) Barney's Girlfriend's Coiffures
4) Briscoe's Barn Birds
5) Pyle's Baseball Hits
6) The County Nurse's Fruit

I think Miss Poovey and I are the real fun girls!

find myself wondering what those wooden valance-type things are that run
along the bottom of each window. If I had to guess, I would say that they
are to keep the sunlight from bleeding through the blinds when in the closed
position, and hitting the floor, where the sunlight might fade carpet or
tile. It's a nagging curiosity that's finally gotten the better of me.
 Anyone in the know? >>
Greg, I have often seen these "wooden valance-type things" at the bottoms
of windows in older buildings in years gone by. The trough-like devices
deflected and diffused fresh air when the windows were opened, preventing
direct drafts from blowing papers on desks, thinning hair on heads, and
giving people the "versitis" (or is that "vercitis"?). Aunt Bee knew
several people who regularly suffered with versitis, but surely not from
drafts in the Mayberry Courthouse! I've also seen these window devices in
older school buildings, again allowing circulation of diffused fresh air
without direct wind. May all your days be Mayberry days!

I just saw that Andy Griffith will be appearing on the Grand Ole Opry this
Saturday night! It's officially listed as "Earl Scruggs & Andy Griffith
with Special Guests". They are scheduled to be on the 7:30-8:00 show, which
is also televised on TNN, and again on the 9:30-10:00 show. Of course, the
Opry can be heard in some 38 states on 650, WSM-AM. Hope everyone will get
a chance to listen/watch!

Alright, this is great, and what makes this bulletin board fun. Thanx
for coming up with the game. Here are my guesses.
1- Goober's Grins--PYLES SMILES
2- Helen's tree roots--CRUMPS TRUNKS
3- Barney's carving utensils--FIFE'S KNIFES
4- Miss Walker's preserves--ELLIES JELLEY
5- Howard's deadly contagious diseases--SPRAGUES PLAGUE
6- Miss Taylor's sycamores--BEA'S TREES (or is that bee, never can
remember, hehe)

Who knows, maybe these will show up on jeopardy some day...

Hi, everyone .. and Welcome to the New Members!

I thought I read somewhere that Don Knotts is finally going to get his star
sometime in the near future .. or did I dream it? Do any of our folks here
have details? Is anyone planning to attend the ceremony?

I'll be waitin' here on the porch, in the swing, for someone to wander by
with the answers ..

My thanks goes to all the veterans out there both those living and all those
we rembember on this day. If it wasn't for all of you, I may not be able to
serve our country today. I am an Electronics Technician First Class with
18-1/2 years in the Navy now. If it wasn't for Vets of the past, I may not
be able to serve today. I am presently stationed at Naval Air Technical
Training Center, Pensacola as an Instructor for Carrier Air Traffic Control
Radar systems. I will be transferring to USS Enterprise next summer. My
best friend from High School, while serving in the Army, was killed in a
"Training Accident" in Korea in 1996. My other best friend is in the Marine
Corps Reserve in Charleston, WV. Anita, you know his wife, Tina. Have lots
of relatives who have or are presently serving.

Gotta go. Veteran's Day Parade is in 45 minutes.

Thank you again Veteran's.

Subject: TAGS on Oprah

Oprah had people on her show today who own or recently purchased celebrity
memorabilia. I don't recall the name of the one man who was on, but he owns
over 6,000 celebrity items, two of which are Andy's and Barney's uniforms
from TAGS. They showed both uniforms on the show. When the TAGS themesong
started in, Oprah said that she started to feel happy. She said that TAGS
is her all-time favorite show. There were no prices assigned to the uniform
ands no indication that they were for sale, but it was nice to see them.

I know it seems that we have all forgotten what this day is really about and
the honor it should receive. For CTMIDWAY and all the others fighting beside
him , "thank you" seems hardly adequate enough to say, but "thank you" for
giving me the freedom I so often take for granted and the rights you fought
so diligently to protect. Thank you is hardly enough to say, but to you CT
and all the veterans who fought and gave their lives for this country.......I
salute you!!

Subject: Price Alert!!

Found some more prices! I watched the episode where Aunt Bee gets a job as
a receptionist in a "print shop." She spent her whole first $30 paycheck on
three items: She bought a dress for $9.95, spent ten dollars on groceries,
and spent another $10 on a football for Opie. She said she blew her whole
check on these items, so the football had to be very close to $10.

By the way, if you've been thinking of buying the TAGS calendar, think no
more...JUST DO IT. It's not skimpy....the pages are almost a foot square.
It's got great pictures month to month, and the inside cover lists ALL 249
EPISODES FROM THE EIGHT SEASONS TAGS WAS AIRED!!! They're listed by
official name and episode number. Then the first page of the calendar lists
special moments from TAGS. They picked out some of our all-time favorite
episodes and quoted actual scrip segments. This is a professionally-done
calendar, and worth every bit of $12.00. It's a great gift to give to
people who like TAGS because it's both economical and thoughtful at the same
time. WHO WOULD'T LIKE IT? It's not something you can pick up at your
local Walmart....you've got to go the extra step of ordering it from
Weaver's. So that makes you even MORE thoughtful! Do your Christmas
shopping early and be a hit at the same time: Shop at Weaver's!

(This has been an unpaid nonpolictical announcement.)

P.S. I bought two....one to use in my home next year and one to keep sealed
as a collector's item. (Unless I get weak, give in, and give it to some
deserving individual who likes TAGS.....)
