Bill - "Pyle's files" is a big 10-4.

I hope everybody's not getting tired of these but here are a few more:

1- Mr. Darlin's dance clubs
2- Campbell's sport cars
3- Mrs. Campbell's pocket breads
4- Wash's overflows
5- Bird's luxury cars
6- Pyle's peanuts

Hi Folks

I was at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night. "All keyed up" to see Ange.
But I went to the 9:30PM show, and Andy had bowed out of that performance
because he wasn't feeling well. The folks were good sports about it (I held
back the tears), though, and Vince Gill did a great impersonation of Goober
for us all.
A few of you may have pictures or videos of Andy's performance...if you do I
would love to see them. And thank all of you who saw Andy for your reviews.

It sure doesn't seem like eight years since the original aggregation of
Mayberry-ites started to gather. Wished I would have saved some of the
early posts. Some of my recollections include:
KJ and Rudy the dog's fabulous recipes (the kind you eat not the kind
you DRINK.)
Bob's knowledge of the show ! !
The young man I sent videos to in New York that was quite amazed that
some guy in IOWA would take time to help him complete his collection of
TAGS. (He must have thanked me 1,000 times.)

But most of all it was discovering that special kinship that only fans
of TAGS can experience.

So, it doesn't matter if you say "pop" or "soda" or "y'all" or "youse",
we're all "cousins" here in Mayberry.

Ain't that right Cousin Andy?

there plans are to make one on the Gomer Pyle show to finish out the trio.=

Don't know any details but if we are patient we will have it to complete
our collections.

Good Morning Mayberry
I just rec'd my Bullet in the mail yesterday. Camel
mail arrives slow and late here, but YIPPEE, it made
it. I was ecstatic to get this edition with the
information regarding the studio and the photo of 40
acres. I have always been fascinated with the sets
and was thrilled to see an actual photo of that
backlot. I was wondering if anyone knew if a copy of
this photo is actually available for purchase???? I
would give a lot to have a copy and would realllllly
like to have an enlarged copy of it. I would get out
my magnifying glass and spend hours pouring over it, I
am sure.
I also enjoyed reading the driving instructions to all
the Mayberry places. I am going to keep them for sure
as i would love to visit all these places whenever I
get out of this sand pile and go home for good!

I always enjoy reading all of the Bullet, but this
edition was a real treat....talk about "puttin' a
little extry jam on the bread".....
I also loved reading the tribute to Mr. Greenbaum. He
was certainly a special guy.

Ya'll have a Mayberry kind of day.

Frank Sutton was born in 1923. He died of a heart attack in 1974 and is
buried
in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Tennessee.

I also remember him doing commercials in the early 70's urging people to quit
smoking and if I remember correctly he had lung cancer. Correct me if I'm
wrong.

I don't know for sure but I think Wally's Filling Station is just behind
The Grand Theater on the Forty Acres lot. Get out your magnifying glass
and tell me what you think?

None the less, It's a great shot, and I sure hope we can expect to see
more of this kind of "insider" information.

I hope this isn't too negative, but I noticed that several members send in
their responses typed in all caps. This is poor ettiquette as it is hard to
read and, in the connotation of the web, is considered shouting.

In advance, Thanks!

(NOTE FROM ALLAN: Kevin's right and it's not negative at all. Most of the
folks
that get the Digest were new to the web at one time or another and somebody
had to tell us all the ettiquette. Thanks, Kevin, for being a good neighboor
and
reminding folks not to yell if they can help it. )

I ASKED:
>>>From: Randy Everette <[EMAIL PROTECTED]
1) What troop number is Opie in? (this is the easiest)
2) What rank patch is Opie wearing? (fairly hard, you need to know how the
old-style Scout rank patches looked to get this one.)
3) What uniform patch is "missing" from his uniform? (I challenge Paul
Mulik to answer this one!
>>>
PAUL ANSWERED:
1. 44
2. I'm going to have to guess on this one: Tenderfoot? I figure a boy that
can't keep track of his equipment can't have achieved a very high rank.
3. There's supposed to be a U.S. Flag on the right sleeve of the official
B.S.A. uniform.
>>>

Paul, not bad! You get 2 of 3. Answers 1 and 2 are correct. Number 3 is
wrong. The flag was not on a US Boy Scout uniform item until 1973. Before
then, the only thing was on the right shoulder sleeve was a patch
representing the patrol the boy was in. Does anyone venture to try to answer
#3?

Subject: The WBMUTBB Rules

The following is a SOAPBOX presentation by Allan....

Hey Everybody,

Boy, things have really been changing here in out little corner of Mayberry!!
I'm not big on change but because of it I think it's time to remind everyone
what WBMUTBB is all about:

We all know what Mayberry's about but do we realize why it is that we all
visit there everyday? I know that the characters are great but more than
that, they're friends. We "know" these people and it's just a joy to visit
them every chance we get to watch them as they work their way through getting
locked in a cell because the door "clangs shut" or any of the other wonderful
situations they face. Things always work out in a wonderful way leaving a
smile on our faces.

Mayberry is an escape from the day-to-day trials we all face. A short trip
to a place where every body cares about one another and where we can forget,
for a while, the fact that "real life" isn't as much like that as we'd like.

I started WBMUTBB back in 1990, along with several other good folks, and
since then I've tried to make it as much like a "corner of Mayberry" as
possible. I wanted this place to be somewhere folks could go and forget
about the outside world and relax by reading about Andy, Barney, Opie, Aunt
Bee, and the rest of our Mayberry family.

To try and make that happen I've required everyone who wanted to join to tell
us a little about themselves so we could get to know them just a little bit.
After all, in Mayberry everyone knew everybody else and how can we have a
community without having at least some idea about our neighboors?

I've also had a couple of rules here and I try to enforce them.

Of course Rule #1 is...you guessed it...Obey all rules.

Rule #2 is this: Talk about the things you like about Mayberry..not things
you don't like.

I know some folks forget this second rule sometimes and they don't really
understand WHY I think Rule #2 is important so let me just give you an
example. Let's say I were to say, "Boy, I really hate Barney. I mean, look
how stupid he is and poor Andy has to put up with him." If I said that
(and meant it) what are the first things that happen to you?

First you'd feel like, "Man, that guys a jerk!" Then you'd get aggravated at
this guy talking about your Favorite character (and friend), Barney Fife.
Even if Barney's not your very favorite character, you'd likely be upset
about this guy talking about your neighbor.

I've never heard anyone say anything like that about Barn but I have about
other characters and folks forget that just because they don't like a
particular character doesn't mean that character isn't someone elses
favorite. You see, if I talk about your favorite character saying negative
things about 'em it takes your fun away.

I think that's enough about Rule #2 and I hope you all understand the rule.
It's not to take away from your fun but to encourage you all to tell us about
what's fun to you and share your good feelings with others.

We have something special here. It's something you don't find often on the
internet. No "flames", no "fighting", no "foul language." We have a place
that children and adults can come and enjoy themselves. Always remember that
we have SEVERAL young folks here in "our little corner of Mayberry" and we
need to nurture them by the things we say and do as examples of how things
SHOULD be.

Mayberry is a wonderful place and I'm just glad to be a part of this little
corner of it.

Your Friend and neighbor,

Allan Newsome
