Well that's kind of a conry intro, but I don't have a handle yet and I'm just raising my hand to say that I sent in the riddles that Miss Poovey answered. Here are the few you didn't get. Opie's friend who walks in the trees' television==McBeevee's TV (this one got cut off on your answer) Young Taylor's favorite dwarf collection==Opie's Dopeys Mr. Clark's point at which me must stop==Emmett's Limit Talent Show Tim's notebook==Colonel's journal I don't mind you givin' Allan credit..(Floyd voice) He's a nice fella.. but I didn't want him to have to take responsibility for the unanswered ones. My hat's off to you charter members. Well I just feel like an interloper havin' been here a matter of months. (please don't give me the big freeze) I discovered Miss Crumps about a year or so ago, but just took on the plunge here on the board last summer...and it's been my Email highlight ever since. I love writing to the Digest also. Mrs. Poultice says I'm just a big bundle of writing talent, so I gotta have somewhere to perform. If I talk to much, Allan, just edit me out..my coworkers do that all the time with the delete key. I am also a novice at memorbelia. I finally went over to that there Ebay and checked out some TAGS items. I almost took the plunge there to, but I don't know what stuff is really worth. Is there such thing as a price guide?? Like what's a pack of 110 cards really worth? I know we have some friendly sellers here in the bunch, but I ain't exactly the "sucker of the world" so be nice. I'll be travlin to "Chicargo" for a few days, but look forward to the Digest when I get home. It's like Andy's "geographic" to me. All God's creatures got a uvula! Thanks, Joe (got no nickname but puddintame) (NOTE FROM ALLAN: Hey Joe! Thanks for steppin' forward about being the one that posted those great questions! The best way to see what some of the stuff on eBay is worth is to check out WEAVER's first!!! You can get a complete set of the trading card at Weaver's and you KNOW the price you'll pay. http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/ You might also want to check out the Mayberry Collection folks if you're looking for autographed Don Knotts Photos or something. The folks that run the place are WBMUTBB members too!! http://www.usaclassics.com/ Weaver's or American Classics...you can't go wrong. Just remember that Weaver's is actually TAGSRWC so you're supporting Jim Clark and all his efforts when you buy from them. -- Allan) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Nov 1999 23:31:43 EST From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V1 #19 Thanks Allan for all the work you do in bringing this to us and all the other people that have helped in the background over the years. Thanks to all the members too for making this such a fun digest. I am a newbie to the wbmutbb chapter and have been made to feel welcome right from the start. Its great to be a member and to know that there are so many people from all over the country , err, world that love TAGS as much as I do. The other day another new member and I were working on a house and he said "hey wait a minute" and ran upstairs to tune on the TV. He came back downstairs and he said"you know whats on?" Well wouldnt you know, it was the episode where Barney buys a car! We told everybody to be quite and listen for a minute and it was right at the part where everybody gets in barneys car. Barney said this cars been treated with kidgloves and I intend to treat it the same.......then gomer agreed and slammed the door so hard that it made barney cringe! We laughed out heads off! Then the car wouldnt start and they went through the "i smell gas! You smell gas? I smell gas! I smell gas too!" " All right All right! Of course you smell gas what do think this thing runs on COAL!" Its just as fun to hear the dialog as to see it cause you can see every detail in your minds eye! I used to have a cassette tape I carried around of the haunted house episode and several of us really got a kick out of listening to that. Try it! Tape a show on cassette and keep it in your car! But be careful, you might just bust a gusset! CYA THAT sure was a big one Barn! I havent seen a traffic jam like that since the 39 worlds fair! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Nov 99 23:33:14 PST From: "Dale Robinson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V1 #19 In response to Nancy Thornton's inquiry about the Gomer Pyle book project, I would like to let her and everyone know that my co-author, David Fernandes, and I, are awaiting permission from the new owners of the series, TV Land/Nick at Nite, to pursue the final part of our TAGS trilogy. I have recently been in contact with TV Land and have been assisting them in some of their future ads for TAGS. I hope that this relationship may help in our pursuit. I get the feeling that if Gomer proves to be succesful on their network, the odds are much better for their needed permission. Thanks to Nancy and to everyone for their kind comments about our books. They are truly labors of love. Dale Robinson (Co-author of "The Definitive Andy Griffith Show Reference" and "A Viewer's Guide To Mayberry R.F.D.) Thanks to all who let me escape to Mayberry for a few moments every day. Ernestt.1 Cameron Hayes ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 09:12:43 -0500 (EST) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: WWTBAM? references I have noticed that a lot of digest subscribers have been tuning in to watch "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?" Maybe it's because this is a game show that takes us back to simpler times. Remember when a gameshow contestant won a prize because they were smart or lucky? Not because they were willing to embarass themselves or be mean to someone on TV. Just like when Aunt Bee was on "Win or Lose". Okay, here's some trivia for ya: 1) What was Aunt Bee's winning answer? 2) What 8 prizes did she win? 3) Who did Aunt Bee say 'hey' to while on the air? ~MissPoovey~ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 11:54:17 -0500 From: "Tanya" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V1 #19 Allan - Please let folks know that Melvin Slaydon has passed away. I am going to his funeral in Dobson this afternoon. I understand that he was in the hospital in Winston for about a month and he passed away in the hospital. I also heard that their niece had made sure that Mallie had a bath, got new clothes for the funeral, etc. We will definitely put a plaque on a seat in the playhouse in honor/memory of Melvin and his contributions to both the old time music of our area and Mayberry Days. Thanks for sharing this with Melvin's fans. We will think of a way to honor him - ideas welcome. Tanya (NOTE FROM ALLAN: For those that don't know, Melvin was an old-time fiddle player that performed at Col. Tim's each year for Mayberry Days. He will be misssed.) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 11:17:38 -0400 From: David Millard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Don Knotts on Regis & Kathie Lee If you all didn't catch our favorite Mayberry Deputy on Live with Regis & Kathy Lee On Wednesday morning you missed a real treat. Don looked good & the conversation was great. it was neat to see still photos that they had from Don's career and I think they really paid him & TAGS a tribute. Also, I would encourage any of you who haven't done it yet, to buy a copy of Don's autobiography which is available on line from Weavers. Our copy came really fast, what great service they have. PLEASE DO NOT use the WBMUTBB Member list to send out emails to all our members. This is considered a misuse of our list. I hope you all understand why I'm asking you do this. If we have misuse like that it makes it look as though we have "sold" our mailing list to someone and that is something the WBMUTBB will NEVER do. So please don't use the Member list for anything other than looking up folks. I'd hate to see us have to remove the list from the web but it will come to that if we abuse it. If you'd like to go see the WBMUTBB Member List just head over to the WBMUTBB web page at: http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/ Then head to the "Members Only" area. Our member password is: harvey ONE MORE THING: When we are doing the quizes and stuff, I'm going to stop posting the answers coming from our members to the Digest. You should send in your answers to the "Quiz Master" (the person asking the quiz/game questions) and then the "Quiz Master" should post the correct answers to the Digest in the next Day or so. I love the trivia and stuff but reading the same answer over and over isn't fun after the first few. I think you'd agree. Thanks!!
