Hi All,
Since I've had an enormous crush on Thelma Lou for most of my life, I'm
disappointed that there is no biography of Betty Lynn on the website.
Does anyone know where I might find more information on my Mayberry
sweetheart?

We may not get 24 hours of TAGS on Super Bowl Sunday this year (and some
of us don't get TAGS anytime at all with no TVLand on our cable)...but
TBS is still showing 24 hours of Andy this year...get ready for 24 hours
of Matlock (beginning at 5 a.m. Central Time on Jan. 30). The 7 p.m.
episode ("The Lemon") introduces Don Knotts as Ben's neighbor Les, who
is framed for murder. That one has some great "front porch" scenes
between Andy and Don. Meanwhile, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna
go down to the drug store to get some ice cream for later (after the
Super Bowl)!

Opie Taylor, Sr. (Keith)

ANDY: You know what I believe I'll do? Run down to the
drugstore and get some ice cream for later.
BARN: You want me to go? I'll go.
ANDY: No, I'll go.
BARN: I don't mind going.
ANDY: I don't either. I can go.
BARN: You're probably tired. Why don't you let me go?
ANDY: No, I'm not tired. I'll go.
BARN: I sure don't mind going.
ANDY: Why don't we both just go?
BARN: O.K.
ANDY: You ready?
BARN: Uh-huh.
  (They both get up)
BARN: Where we goin'?
ANDY: Down to the drugstore to get some ice cream for later.

Hi Y'all from Blizzardy DC;

In regards to TAGS commercials, ther is a website called tvparty.com or
something like that and they have some TAGS commercials, I remeber one for
Sanka and one for Post Corn Flakes. I haven't "surfed" over to that site
lately, but if it's still up you should check it out.

Take Care......We're diggin' out 'round here!

I thought these were great Allan. Thanks for sharing with the rest of the
town. Real Player is easy to download and you've got it forever. I think
they
would make a great addition to your site, especially if you have more to
share!!!! We will all treasure these even more someday. Do you have any of
Don Knotts also? Diana ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Reminded me of when Andy and his
family went to hollywood and the pictures they brought back to share..
Thanks again

Watching A&E Biography tonight on Ron Howard. He and his brother were so
fortunate to be raised like other "normal" kids. I applaud his parents for
banking his earnings for him instead of letting Ron and his brother support
the family.

I watched North By Northwest on TCM today. I noticed during the auction scene
Mayberry's choir director. Must be he couldn't make up his mind what he
wanted to do for a living.

In regard to the vintage TAGS commercials, Shokus Video has several video
compilations of old commercials, one of which has Andy and Barney pitching
Post
Grape Nuts. It goes like this: Barney comes into the courthouse carrying a
tray
with two bowels of Grape Nuts cereal (and of course the box.) As Andy
prepares to
dig in, Barney reminds him of the new exercise program they've committed
themselves to, and persuades Andy to do some deep knee bends with him first.
Andy does his knee bends while saying "Grape Nuts cereal fills you up not
out, fills
you up not out". Barney meanwhile has snuck away and is seen crouched behind
the desk wolfing down the Grape Nuts. I've ordered many videos from this
company and have found them to be very reputable. They have a large selection
of classic TV videos for sale. Take care...Al Becker

Bravo, Joe!! As usual, you wrote an outstanding episode. I could
honestly "see'" Andy, Barney, Floyd and the others, in my mind.

I love the way you had Andy handle the situation of Mayberry's citizen's
"bickering" over voting. You did a wonderful job of showing both side's
views. Everyone has a right to his or her opinion and you did a
wonderful job of reminding us all of that fact.

You, like Andy, are a very wise man. Keep the new episodes coming!!

Good Morning Mayberry
Don't know if anyone caught this show, but was
watching a tape my mother sent me and on an episode of
Becker, done for Christmas, there was our own Cousin
Virgil working in the morgue. Except for the totally
white hair, he looked exactly the same and his voice
is unmistakable. Even his mannerisms were familiar.
Never know where Mayberry friends and neighbors will
turn up....

Well, another actor I always admired was Willis Bouchey. He was the
cabin owner where Big Maude danced with Barn. He was also the business
owner who hired Jimmy Morgan and was upset that he borrowed his car
battery. He was also the nice man who drove up with archery sets and
Aunt Bee's roasted chickens for the campers when Barn got lost. I saw
him yesterday on Gomer as the traffic judge. How about y'all? Aunt Bee

First of all, I'd like to say that TV Land is doing a great job promoting
TAGS and also at showing us parts of episodes that haven't always been
played thru the years. We watched the Jinx episode of TAGS last night and I
had never seen the scene at the dance/raffle where little Leon(Clint Howard)
was leaning in the doorway watching. Who was the man supposed to be who
scooped him up and carried him out? Was that Leon's daddy? Also, I found the
actor who played Henry Bennett to be just great, his name was John Qualen,
does anybody know any other work he did? He was a real "hoot " when he
called Barney a "sap " and when he pulled out the hat size. Thanks TV Land
for giving us something wholesome to watch in the evenings. TAGS is a great
show and we love it....." Lotsa Luck to You and Yours "....Dave, " A Dollar

Thanks for all whe responded about Dream Sequences.

The correct B&W as all of you answered was: Episode #51 A Medal for
Opie. There are apparently a few different color episodes with Dream
Sequences. I had thought of #247 Sam for Council when Emmett dreamed of
being Councilman and making speeches etc. Others mentioned, that seem
to be correct also are, #235 Howards New Life (when Howard dreams about
being a bum sitting around with nothing to do) and #224 Howard the
Bowler (He dreams about the 300 game) #212 Barney comes to Mayberry
(Barney comes by train and imagines a big welcome, there is a big
welcome but it's for Tina Andrews, movie star). Lots of good answers and
that doesn't include "Girl-Shy" when Warren Sleep-walks or the
fake-dream sequence Andy and Barney put on in "Otis buys a Car".
My clue was "winning" episodes for Opie winning the medals and Emmett
winning the election. There are probably a few more. (but no other
montages?)

I used to be one of the uninformed on Johnny Coons. One of the veterans
advised me (Dan I think) that one of his most memorable scenes is when
Barney breaks out of the Bank Vault and takes off the dress on the
street. Johnny looks at him and Barney says "Haven't you ever seen a
man take off a dress before". Don't confuse him with my favorite Extra,
Joe Hamilton, who always wears a white hat and is near Gomer in
Citizen's Arrest. (featured in recent issue of the Bullet) Johnny is
usually just a face in the crowd, and you have to search for him like
Waldo.

Speakin of Extra's, Did anyone see the Retro-mercial on Bert Mustin
(Jud) on TVLand the other night?? pretty cool. TVLand now posts a
schedule on their website TVland.com for the present day, and one day in
advance (sorry Non-TVL areas we're pullin' for ya)

OK, one new question, then I'm done. The Older Lady whom Andy crowns
Miss Mayberry in "The Beauty Pageant" (who did all the work for
Founders day)..Is she the same actress who played Glenda the Good Witch
in the Wizard of OZ?? Her voice sure sounds like it.

Miss Mayberry, Hail, Hail, Hail, Hail Miss Mayberry (wrote that myself)
