I'm sure this is a well-noticed subject, but I recently noticed that in
Goober and
the Art of Love, that some episodes show a "lot" more of the bridge game than
others ... untill recently, I had never seen the entire scene where Barney's
cheating, and when the doorbell rings and Andy leaves the table, Barney
'peeks' at
his cards!!! hilarious!!!
makes me realize even more just how many episodes have beed 'sliced and diced'
causing some of us to miss so much good stuff! This episode is one of my very
favorites, along with Andy & Helen Have Their Day, and Andy on Trial (in which
Barney gives a brilliant performance) imho! and Goober takes a Car Apart!! I
have
all the B & W episodes but am constanly trying to upgrade to get complete
shows
and epilogues.
Everyone keep those of us in North Carolina in your prayers and thoughts till
we
get out from under this crippling winter weather!!! "everybody complains

Perfect! Absolutely PERFECT! I enjoyed it so much. Better than Mrs.
Mendelbright's cider, I guarantee ya! Now, my dear Mayberry friends, since
I have a very important meeting to attend (no, not the town council) I think
I'll go and find myself a red-headed boy and rub his head!!!!!!

>>>The Older Lady whom Andy crowns Miss Mayberry in "The Beauty Pageant"
(who did all the work for
Founders day)..Is she the same actress who played Glenda the Good Witch in
the Wizard of OZ?? Her voice sure sounds like it.
>>>

Nope. Glinda was played by Billie Burke; Miss Bishop was played by Lillian
Bronson.

Trivia time! This is a TOUGH one. Nobody who appeared in The Wizard of Oz
ever appeared on TAGS. However, there was one person seen on TAGS whose
VOICE was heard in The Wizard of Oz. Anybody want to take a stab at this
one?

In regards to Joe's question about dreams in episodes, I remember when Opie
had a dream that he won a medal for the 50 yard dash and he had medals all
over his shirt. It turns out that the little guy didn't win. But that is
the only one I can think of from the b&w TAGS episodes.

With regards to Rick Willis' comments on "Goober and the Art of Love", I
agree that's a great scene where Goober and Lydia show up while Andy, Helen,
Barney and Thelma Lou are playing bridge. In his WBMUTBB post, Rick quotes
Barney as saying, "Six can't play bridge, Goober!" Which leads me to tell
about a treasure I found when another TAGSRWC and WBMUTBB member came to
visit me from Missouri (HI, Joyce!) back in October, and we visited some
antique and thrift shops. I found a deck of cards for a buck, and you'll
never guess what they're called: "BRIDGE FOR 6". I'd-a paid $10 if I had
to, to get them! What a find! One more little addition to my ever-growing
pile of Mayberry-related stuff.

This would have to be my all time favorite too - however when I think of
other episodes, I'm just "torn betwixt two (or more) loves".

Howdy Folks, I've been listening 'bout the TVLand episodes and I'm jealous!
I was back home (NC) for the holidays and caught a few. Man!, what
resolution!! The thing that just breaks my heart is they're showing them in
order and there's nothing I can do about it (no TVLand in Duluth doncha
know.) I'm hoping that some day they'll do it again when I can tape them.
Two chairs, and I've got the magazines..err...tapes to swing it! Speaking
of my sweet home of NC,man we got hammered. State of emergency. Listening
to Gov. Hunt on Today this morning. I guess Barn's out deputizing a few of
the boys. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of your
neighbors! Y'all be good and thanks again Allan. Oh yeah, TVParty.com is
up and running. The resolution is bad but what a joy to see something
original-Andy at my age(36).

you're a good son Barn.....Thanks Jim Rogers

Hello, Mayberry and Mize People!
I knew if me and Lydia kept writing long enough we'd soon find somebody out
there near Sullivan's Holler (that's Mize, Mississippi, to
the rest of you). Lydia nearly spilt her Dr. Pepper when I told her there is
actually another fine American from Mize (or there-abouts) connected with
TAGS.
My cousin, Michael Kennedy, lives there, too,
and works out at Georgia Pacific (I forgot to put that in my post to you).
He's real good people. Just like me and Lydia.

Now, my question, which I asked before, but got no answer. Who is that lady
extra I was asking about? She's in a lot of episodes, and she's so
attractive, I wonder if she's connected to Andy or anyone else on the
show. She's the lady Barney was about to write down as a possible choice
for Andy (in the "Wife for Andy" episode) as she walked by, but
Thelma Lou had to tell him "she's married." And she always wears the
collar of her dress turned up. I never recall her saying anything.

Someone asked yesterday if "Miss Mayberry" was Glenda the Good Witch."
Sorry, they may sound alike to you, but no way.

All this talk about Mize has me home sick. And it's too cold for gold
truck watching, so me and Lydia'll just stay tucked inside and drink us
some Dr. Peppers and think of home. "The tears on my pillow bespeak the pain
that is in my heart." Laura Lee Hobbs, somewhere down 123 S.

Hi Guys-

Well, we're getting the snow here in the Midwest that alot of you
have been getting for a few days. Just started me thinking about
snow or references to snow on TAGS. The only thing I can think of
is Barney telling Ange something about not being able to see a
muddy elephant in the snow. Can anyone else think of any others?

While viewing last night's TV Land episode, I noticed that the desk
calendar on Andy's office desk (the kind where you turn over the page
each day) was set around the third or fourth week of January. That is,
judging by how many pages had been turned over.
But Opie's race appears to take place in the summer time with all the
participants dressed in shorts.
Just another inconsistancy that nobody thought of at the time.

Joe: I found the story about the voting very amusing, but don't you realize
that
when you see the polls that the vote has already been cast a tallied? Your
wasting such a great talent( writing) on this carnfounded internet. If this
voting on the internet was of any value most of us would be right over there
doing our civic duty and voting. Tell Andy Barney and the boys hello for me.
