I think it's a rather catchy title, don't you? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2000 17:36:48 CST From: "DEBORAH DUBOSE" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Little Known Quotes The Count must be working his magic again, 'cause just as soon as I wrote in about little known quotes, Gary Luttrell wrote one of his favorites and it happens to be one me and Lydia have been scratching our heads over ever since: "Alaska? That's the same thing I told her! I wonder who that nut was?" So, come on Gary, you'll have to write back and tell us the episode it came from and who said it and who they said it to. It's only fair. And me and Lydia THOUGHT we knew every line from every episode! Shame on us!! Lydia can't type, but this is her favorite scene--and if she quotes it wrong, write HER, not me. Barney: "Our Lydia is a real outdoors type of girl, ain't you, Lydia?" Lydia: "I hate the outdoors. Whenever I go out in the sun, I get the herpes." Barney: "Well, of course you do." (we two fall on the floor at that) Lydia on bass and Laura Lee Hobbs on fiddle, watching out for gold trucks in between melodies, ain't we got it good? ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2000 16:33:09 -0800 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #69 Barney's Duckwalk- The shoplifter's episode When Barney & Asa each think the other is the burglar. Did you all know there is still one located in Savannah? It is Mack's 5&10 and is just like they were when I was a kid; full of anything and everything! Lots of old-fashioned items that I just love. We always make a stop there when we travel. I just about laugh myself onto the floor every time I watch this scene. >> That is a wonderful, funny episode, to be sure. The part of that one that really gives me a kick is the scene where Barney ushers the mayor over to the side of the street (perhaps to a park bench?) where the mayor is to watch the "new, improved" Mayberry marching band. To hurry the mayor along, Barney places one of his cymbals on the mayor's behind to push him forward. Barney's quick comedic action here and the mayor's awkward response are priceless! Carter went into a store in town which was being run by Fred Boone (Mornin' honey, mornin' dear) who has played by Jesse White. Now spotting Jesse is no big deal because he had a very long and busy career as a character actor. But what was exciting was the fact that as Gomer and the Sgt. walked into the store, a customer walked away from the counter and out the door. Would you believe it was Mr. Schwump? dan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2000 14:02:36 GMT From: "Harriet Browder" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Notable supporting characters Every time I see a character from TAGS in a movie or another TV show I shout outloud "TAGS Link!" and caught myself doing that a number of times this past weekend. As an old movie buff I suddenly had a thunk! Just how many different movies/tv show credits do our underrated TAGS characters have to their namesakes. I did some real bucket thinking and just off the top of my head/bucket-bottom figured Ole Ben Weaver probably has quite a length. Sure 'nugh I found out on the most reliable source - Internet Movie Data Base (www.imdb.com). It listed Will Wright in 110 movies and 23 TV shows. Now that's a big list! Course I come up with that idea ("Is that the idea I come up with, Paw?") after I spotted him on a quickie One Reel Wonder entitled "The Tale Tale Heart" and had to laugh as he had a cold one when he evicted the Scobys. TAGS is everywhere and ain't it grand? TAGS fans, Noticed that the producer of the producer of last night's "Baywatch Hawaii" was Howard Grigsby. Wondered if he was the son of Harold Grigsby and that new wife of his? I'm thinking the young man parlayed his half interest in that sawmill into a career as a Hollywood producer. Maybe he even got Andy to introduce him to Mister Considine. (When I saw the name, I had to pull out Steve Spignesi's "Mayberry My Hometown" to see if the character on TAGS was Harold or Howard. Thanks to Steve for all the times I've used his book just like that--when I had a name stuck in my mind and couldn't remember which episode it was from. This letter would have been a lot funnier if the producer had been named Harold.) As to my favorite line from the show . . . just pick one and it will probably be my favorite at the moment. Just a thought. Emmett, A few years ago Allan "Floyd" was emceeing "An Evening with Don Knotts" down in Birmingham. He was telling a joke and forgot the punch line. No one knew it but me. I was laughing so hard I was crying. He just stood up there and did the uh,uh, (like Floyd does) the punch line wouldn't come to him. After some more uh, uhing he just said I don't remember what I was going to say. Everyone loved it. It was so Floyd. But he hadn't planned it, he just couldn't remember the punch line.
