Hey Folks,

It's about that time again. Our supply of WBMUTBB T-shirts are gone and we
need to get up another order!!!

Many of you already have a WBMUTBB t-shirt but most of them are at least 2
years old so you may need to replace 'em before the "Mayberry" season of
events get started.

Right now, we're looking into getting basically the same design as we had on
the last shirt (front and back). You can see the design on the WBMUTBB
Members Only page (remember...the password is: harvey). Jan's looking into
getting the shirts in colors other than white but it looks like that's gonna
raise the cost so I doubt we'll go with 'em. We're also trying to figure out
if there's something else we might want to get with the WBMUTBB logo on it.

Last time we did mouse pads and they didn't go out the door too fast (we only
sold about 30 of the 50 we bought so I ended up being able to give 'em away
as prizes and stuff). We may get a few mouse pads again and we're looking at
caps...maybe.

If y'all have any great ideas, email them to me at: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
(Don't send the ideas to the Digest...just to me directly)

All that said, we'll be getting the order together in the next few weeks and
I'll keep y'all informated as to what we'll have. Mainly, we want to be sure
we have the tees ready before Mayberry @ Meadowview gets here. That way all
our members will have their WBMUTBB t-shirts on for the event!!

Awh, Big ain't the word for it.

Allan

I wanted to let those of you that are interested, I now have a very basic
website. I plan to write about some of the "Mayberry" related things that I
do and have a few pictures too. You'll also find "Bert Miller's Merchandise"
located at the bottom of the page. Hopefully it will get bigger and better
as time goes by. You can find it at:

Hidee!

I've seen Everett Greenbaum's name listed on the credits of many episodes of
MASH, but last night I saw an episode that I KNOW he contributed to...

Hawkeye and Trapper quit drinking and are thus getting nasty to one 'nother.
Trapper says something to Hawkeye, and Hawkeye replies, "You just go up an
alley and holler FISH!" I hooted and hollered when I heard that one. I
waited for "I said it and I ain't takin' it back, neither!" but Hawkeye
ended it there.

One of my favorite quotes (and I know I don't have it verbatim but it's
pretty close):

Andy to Floyd: What do you know about love?
Floyd: What do I know about....well, you don't cut hair for 20 years
without learning SOMEthing!

I agree with one of the writers I saw on one of the TAGS specials that
Floyd's lines don't look too funny on paper, but what Howard McNear did with
those lines...well, it's priceless!

TATERS!!

Subject: TAGS/Flintstones connections

We all know 2000 marks the 40th anniversary of "The Andy Griffith Show," but
did you know that another of television's most popular series, "The
Flintstones," also debuted in that year?

These two TV favorites share more than their birthdates:

Both Andy Taylor and Fred Flintstone have a sidekick named Barney...

...and both have a red-haired child, Opie and Pebbles, respectively.

The themes to each are two of the most recognizable of all TV themes.

Hal "Otis" Smith and Howard "Floyd" McNear voiced incidental characters on
"The Flintstones."

Andy's and Fred's cars have been popularized as toys.

Harvey Bullock wrote for both series.

And occasional TAGS guest (and Ron Howard's dad) Rance Howard scripted an
episode of "The Flintstones" ("Fred's Second Car").

Andy and Barney and Fred and Barney loved to go fishing.

Andy and Barney and Fred and Barney were occasionally depicted singing
(although Fred was unevenly characterized as a warble-mouth and as a jazz
virtuoso).

And Mayberry and Bedrock are arguably television's most famous fictional
cities.

Happy Birthday to Andy, Barney, Fred, and Barney!

Sorry to say, Idell, but no gold truck was sighted as of yet. We are
supposed to get TVLand sometime in the next month, so I'll keep you
posted.

"There's a gold truck a-coming and me and you and Gomer and Laura Lee
Hobbs are gonna be there to receive it!" (my personal favorite quote-it made
me famous, you know!)

In the words of that famous if yet unpublished country song, "There ain't
been on trash in my trailer since I threw you out," I'll bid you
all a happy Mayberry week, Laura Lee Hobbs, ace gold truck receiver.

I bet that WAS funny, Jan, but I bet Floyd didn't think so at the time.
I'd be
terrified if that happened to me. I bet that was as funny as me loosin my
car. (beat ya to it, Emma. LOL)

Deborah Dubose wanted to know the episode from which I pulled, "Alaska?
That's what I told her, too. I wonder who that nut was?" It was episode
#223, "Andy's Trip to Raleigh." Goober said it to Andy after he told Goober
that some nut told a woman lawyer that Andy was in Alaska. Of course the
"nut" was Goober (unbeknownst to him) who was trying to steer the lawyer
away from Andy with a cock-and-bull story.

Many TAGS fans don't know the later episodes (i.e., without Knotts) as they
do the earlier ones. There are some real gems in these shows, although I
admit to liking the earlier ones much more, too.

Hey, To Dan Goodwin who also saw whom he thinks was Mr. Schwump on Gomer Pyle
the
other night leaving the Army Surplus store that was run by Jesse White. Daisy
from Miss Crump's Bulletin Board looked back at her copy of that episode but
said
it was hard to tell if it was really him. Does anyone else have a copy to
preview or know of a way to find out from possible cast credits who the real
Mr.
Schwump was? Unfortunately he had no speaking part. Lots of luck to you and
yours. Dick.

Whenever my hubby and I see a Mayberryite on another program, we look at
each other, grin and say "there's Mr. Weaver" or whoever they were in
Mayberry! Such fun, such fun! Folks from our beloved hometown are so
ingrained in my psyche, that when I'm processing mail at my part-time
job, I can come upon a name from Mayberry and think , oh, where do I know
them from and then say oops! But then I've actually processed some from
Mt. Airy and then run into the person while visiting there; that is
really awesome! Aunt Bee of Orlando
