Subject: Mystery Date

Oh, ladies (and gentlemen), I just remembered something. In a later
episode, Jack Nicholas was featured as a wrongly accused man and Aunt Bee
was sitting on the jury asked to judge him (she was the lone hold-out for
acquittal, rightly so, of course).
Remembering this, I choose for my mystery date old cool and dangerous,
Jack himself. In fact, speaking of old, I'd rather keep him the
age he is now and have me around 35, and that should even us both out
nicely. And knowing what I know now, about how youth is wasted on the young,
it would be a better time period. But, following the rules, as he appeared
on the show, he looked in his twenties, then I'd gladly be 18 and what a
time would be
had by one and all! And that's all I'm going to have to say about that.
Yeah, it was a fast lens that was used.

Hey Mayberry fans,

The other day someone wrote in wanting the email address of Bob who makes the
Mayberry Squad Car replicas. I've purchased one from him, but, I haven't
received it yet (should receive it in about 1 week). I can tell you that they
are supposed to be 1:24 scale. And he says he can make 1960- 1965 models upon
request. His email is : [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Mayberry says thanks and happy motoring,

David

This is an interesting scenario you've thrown out here Mrs Laura Lee...I'm
going to have to go with someone very close to your pick and say it would be
Charlene Darling. Something about her singing and dancing gives me the idea
she'd make an awefully fun date. Of course, I would be a little worried
about Mr. Darling and her husband Dud Wash. I ain't no good at fightin' with
willer branches and whittlin' knives and I don't know much about them
mountain legends and such.

For the fella looking for refreshment ideas you can't beat the Aunt Bee
cookbooks for recipes, entertaining suggestions, etc. If you don't have
time to order them from Jim, check local bookstores as they sometimes
still have them too.

Laura Lee, you come up with the best stuff! I happened to marry an Andy
(calm, stable, capable); in fact I sometimes wonder if I first fell for
him cuz of the resemblance (beautiful head of hair) without realizing it.
But, if you really want us to fantasize, I can imagine as a teenager I
would've gone for Barney due to his excitable ways and smoldering eyes
(remember when he asked the escaped convict to dance?), although I
wouldn't have appreciated goin' Dutch to the diner!! Whereas Barn was
comfortable around women, Andy always acted somewhat shy and backward.
Oh well, just my two cents!

On the subject of "Romeena", she was played by Jackie Joseph, & I
believe she was
married to Ken Berry.

I have a question about the railroad. In the early episodes, the only
mass transit in &
out of town was the bus. In later episodes there is a train station & a
train. There is
one episode (color) where the town wants to erect a statue to Andy's
grandfather &
the ugly truth comes out that the grandfather got rich or something by
rerouting the
railroad to another town. Anyway, when did the railroad come to
Mayberry?

Hey to you & yours,
Big Maude

Noticed in this week's TV Land episodes that Barney has something
square in his left shirt pocket. Maybe he was feeling "special sporty"
and had some cigars in his pocket...or maybe it was a special box for
"the bullet". Thought the ticket book was in his pants pocket (in case
of rampant jaywalking!). I did not think that Don Knotts smoked cigarettes
during the Mayberry years. Guess this will be another Mayberry Mystery!

Laura Lee's question about the date? For me, it would have to be Peggy
McMillan. Pretty, a good cook, can sing well, drives a fancy sports car -
you can't resist all of that!

Subject: Romeena sighting

Hey Everybody,
Someone mentioned in the last post about spotting Romeena in an episode of
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. I guess everyone knows that the role of Romeena was
played by Jackie Joseph, who was at the time Mrs. Ken Berry. Ken, of course,
was Sam Jones on the last few episodes of TAGS and the star of Mayberry,
R.F.D. I guess it helps to know someone (or be married to someone) up in
high places. She was such a scream as Romeena wasn't she? I guess she had
to be to even be an equal to Ernest T.
Happy TAGS watching!

How D,
I was not able to record the special on TVLAND where they
interviewed the cast members, and at the end of that wonderful show they
played the "fishin hole" song with Ange singing it. That was so goooood and I
was wondering where I might get me a copy of that song somewhere. I shore
would be grateful to find out.

It's funny, but every time I watch a re-run it never seems to have Emmett on.
Then I'll go to work and someone will advise that they saw him the night
before. Is there some trick I'm missing or just unlucky?

Would appreciate any advise or memories y'all might have of Emmett.

Thanks,

Barbara
